Treatment Techniques used by
Speech Links

Speech Links provides a comprehensive approach to communication, encompassing treatments plans that house the child's individual needs and harnesses relationship-based intervention. The following are treatment techniques used to increase communication skills:

PROMPT

PROMPT is a program specifically designed for the treatment of motor speech disorders, including Articulation, Apraxia, Dysarthria, and Phonological disorders. It is a hierarchial treatment based on typical motor speech development in terms of planes of movement. The program is designed to promote motor-speech accuracy and coordination, within a framework of appropriate language, cognitive and social development. Treatment is provided on a weekly basis, as well as on a Consultative basis. Parent workshops are offered, including development of 3-4 month treatment plan, and training of parents and other members of the intervention team.

DIR/Floortime

Floortime is a program designed for the treatment of Autism and related disorders (Pervasive Developmental Disorder/asperger Disorder). It is a treatment designed to enhance engagement and communication between parent and child, housing a framework within Social-Emotional development guidelines, and incorporation of individual child's differences. Coaching is the essence of this treatment, fully inclusive of the parent as an integral part of the treatment plan, strategies, and implementation. Treatment is provided on a weekly basis, as well as on a Consultative basis. Video analysis of treatment is also offered, when live coaching is not possible.

Therapeutic Listening

Therapeutic Listening is a program designed for the treatment of Auditory Processing Disorder, as well as Vestibular, Visual and Auditory integration. It is a treatment designed to enhance bilateral integration of auditory processing skills, including Auditory Figure/Ground differences, spacial awareness (high versus low frequency sounds), intonation patterns (upward/downward), and phonemic segmentation (separating words into sounds). It is also used to enhance understanding of conversational speech including the emotional tone of language. Treatment entails listening to a series of music cds, as determined by the initial plan of care. Treatment is provided daily.

SCERTS

SCERTS is a program designed for the treatment of Autism and related disorders (Pervasive Developmental Disorder/Asperger Disorder). It is a treatment designed to enhance communication in all settings of the child's life. The intervention is based on Speech and Language development, within the framework of Communication Functions and Means. Social-Emotional, as well as Cognitive development, are an integral part of this program. Treatment is provided on a weekly basis, as well as on a Consultative basis. Parent workshops, as well as video analysis of the treatment are also offered.
